First day of the Trip. Long 14 hour flight from Brisbane to Dubai, arrived safe but tired at about 5AM local time. Met up with Kendall and Eva. The Airport had free WiFi and James and Willem caught a Ponyta, surely the day couldn't get any better from here.
Nothing here opens earlier than about 10am, so we spent a few hours in the morning wandering through the Dubai Mall and climbing the Burj Khalifa before the crowds arrived. Dubai Mall is just so expansive and every major brand seems to have their own store. The Mall itself has a dinosaur statue, ice skating rink, giant TV and a 3 story fish tank.
Bit of a hot and hazy day in Dubai but the view from level 125 of the Burj Khalifa is still impressive.
After that we drove back to Kendall and Brad's place in Ras Al-Khaimah, about an hour north of Dubai. Squeezed in a quick nap before being woken by the afternoon Call to Prayer from the local Mosque.Then made a quick trip up to the local mall to get some supplies and dinner. Still adjusting to the timezones so Jimmy dropped out early. Bed for me soon, but Willem seems to be kicking on.
